Heroku Eventing: A Router for All Your Events

Managing event-driven architecture can be challenging. For many organizations, this includes a diverse set of eventing services and buses, often across multiple organizations. Developers must manage authentication and pub/sub services across teams and applications.

We’re thrilled to introduce Heroku Eventing, a powerful tool designed to help teams manage events more efficiently and securely. This new feature simplifies the process of integrating and monitoring events from various sources, ensuring a seamless and secure experience.

Simplifying Monitoring and Observability

One of the most common challenges our customers face is the need for comprehensive monitoring and observability. Traditionally, this involves manually gathering data from multiple systems or setting up complex, potentially insecure connections. Heroku Eventing offers a streamlined and secure solution to this problem.

With Heroku Eventing, teams can aggregate data from sources such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, New Relic, and Splunk, and view them in a unified, user-friendly interface. This integration provides a clear and accessible overview of platform performance and health metrics, making it easier to monitor and manage your applications.

What is Heroku Eventing?

Heroku Eventing is a robust tool that simplifies event-based application development on the Heroku platform. It offers a centralized hub for managing, subscribing to, and publishing events, streamlining the development process:

  • Centralized Management: Manage all subscriptions and publications related to an app from a single, intuitive interface.
  • Seamless Integration: Connect directly with Heroku Kafka and Postgres Database.
  • Flexible Event Distribution: Push Kafka and Postgres events to subscribers, including data cloud and Salesforce Platform Events.
  • Unified API: Use a single API to subscribe and publish to all events and webhooks.
  • Secure Authentication: Securely store authentication credentials for all connected services.
  • Compliance: Compliant with industry standards, including Cloud Events and Bloblang.

Heroku Eventing and AppLink: Better Together, Like Pair Programing

We’re also piloting Heroku AppLink, which works alongside Eventing to expose Heroku apps as APIs in Salesforce, so you can more easily integrate your custom apps with Salesforce.

  • Heroku AppLink -> Best for secure, managed integrations.
  • Heroku Eventing -> Best for event-driven architectures, allowing real time data flow across systems.

Together, these two pilots can allow developers to build more responsive and interactive applications.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue improving the Heroku AppLink and Eventing experience based on pilot feedback.

We’re excited to bring a more connected Heroku experience to developers.
